# Word to PDF conversion

For technical reasons, signatures cannot be added directly to Word documents. Instead, they are placed on a separate signature page, whereas in PDF files, signatures are embedded directly within the document. For this reason, we recommend using PDF format.

When you add a Word file (.doc or .docx) to a signature request, the service automatically detects the file type and recommends converting it to PDF.

During the upload, a confirmation dialog is displayed where you can choose how to proceed. You can either convert the file to PDF or keep the original Word document. If you choose conversion, the system generates a PDF version of the Word document.

After the conversion, you will be shown a preview of the generated PDF file.

Before using the file, you must explicitly confirm it by selecting **“Approve and use PDF”** or cancel the conversion. If you cancel, you will return to file selection and the original file will not be modified.

The approved PDF will be added to the signature request as the document to be signed.

By accepting the converted PDF file, you confirm that you have reviewed it, that it matches the original document, and that its content is correct and ready for signing.
{% endhint %}

If the conversion fails, the service will notify you of the error and prompt you to try again or upload a ready-made PDF file.

If you add multiple Word files, the conversion option will be shown separately for each file.
